I know the pieces fit.

So, new Tool album. Yeah. It's groovy. I've only listened to it about 4 times since I got it about 10 days ago, but it grew on me quite quickly after the initial 'blah' feeling the first listen gave me. Anyway, if you're like Mr. Purple and didn't really get into Aenima, then this one probably won't be for you.I'm just a Maynard whore anyway.

Hmm.Well, I don't know the last time we discussed Aenmima, but I actually love that album nowadays. I didn't at first, admittedly, and kind of put it away, but then a few months later I pulled it out and kept it in my CD player for like a month straight. It's not on my regular cycle, because I don't have Mp3s of it, but I do enjoy it very much. Though, admittedly, I never did really fall in love with 46 & 2 - which I know you liked and seems to be a crowd favorite. My favorites are Eulogy, H, and Pushit. I can't really say if I like it more or less than Undertow...it's been years since I listened to Undertow...I listen to mostly fag music these days...maybe I need to revisit something with some nuts.I look forward to hearing Lateralus, I haven't heard any of it yet, but I have heard that's it's good. I would download it from Billy, but I'm not supposed to use bandwidth for such things, and being Tool, all of the Mp3s are like 10 megs and shit...so, oh well, eh?I've got your dirty black summer,j-

Yeah, so I'm slow with the replies...Yeah, I remember you told me at some point that you did finally get into Aenima, but you probably only mentioned it once and it didn't really sink it with me.Anyway, I'm still digging the new album, but it hasn't grabbed me the way Aenima did (which got me much more than Undertow). One thing I miss is that there's not a lot of Maynard using his kick-ass voice, like at the end of Pushit (I must pursuade you another WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY). There's some good/fun lyrical stuff and some okay lyrical stuff and some cool sounding parts and some okay sounding parts. Nothing's bad except in one song where at first listen it sounds like they really had to make an effort to squeeze the lyrics into the timing of the song. Somehow it doesn't sound so bad after subsequent listenings, though. Anyway, I give it 4.5 bratwursts out of 5, but only 3 hefeweizens out of 5 when comparing it only to Tool/APC.

This is the glacial post.4 Bratwurts. Not too shabby. Yeah, the vocals from PushIt that you mentioned are probably the highpoint of the album for me - and probably in my list of top-ten musical moments. I also really love in the song Aenima when he sings "I'm praying for rain now, I'm praying for tidal waves...etc." He is a kickass singer, man.I think I should give APC another chance. And I probably will.
